FASHION NEEDS AND CONSUMPTION - PERSONAL EXPERIENCE & OBSERVATION
When I graduated from college i was a student of Political science( hons), and now i am a fashion designing student, this jump from politics to fashion came as surprise to most of the people who know me but i deadly believe that what we wear actually matter. we all know fashion is the second most polluting industry into the world as I mention it in my pervious blogs.
we all wear clothes they impact how we think about ourselves and how other perceive us it's this vast scale and emotional connection that makes fashion an important part of changing the world as we know it . the more stuff we have it doesn't mean that we're any happier it just means that we have more clutter this hopefully presents us with the opportunity to have less and really love the things that we do have to buy quality and to pay more for products that represent what we stand for and that's important because our current expectation around price is set in a system that relies an exploitation to keep prices low. I think having less stuff that paying more that sustainability is a specific, no it's a shortcut to focusing on the things that matter in life. having more and more doesn't makes us happy but having less what actually we needs makes us happier.

In a way fashion is that it's most powerful when it represents we are inside and the values that we stand for. only we human have created as a culture have created these problems are on exploitation and population that mean that they're entirely human constructs these are no law of nature that say this is the way that we have to act we've created these business and theses values and we can change them now. We buy stuff because we have this addiction to buy more without even thinking that do we really need it? Even there is lot of stuff in our wardrobe that we actually have used for one not more than three or four times.
I like to tell everyone to take the responsibility and not think of it as a burden but we need to recognize this is a opportunity to make meaningful choices , and focus on that matters in our life. we mostly take fashion as a wagon of showoff , to make people see that we are this or that much fashionable. In someway we didn't understand the real meaning of fashion, clothing is a part of our daily life, we need to take fashion a that way the way it is.

After reading ur blog I remembered one thing which we girls usually say when we have to go somewhere and that is.....what to wear, I don't have anything to wear...... And it's not true we have ample of clothes right there in our wardrobe but still we need more....after reading ur blog I realize that we all have enough things but we don't consider using them twice and even I don't know why we are prioritizing our wants more than our actually needs
ReplyDeleteWe should clear the difference between our wants and need
ReplyDeleteIt's very important to understand the difference between needs and wants. We should always ask a question to ourselves "What and why we are purchasing ", and it would eventually help us in less buying.
